Thom Browne

Thom Browne is an American fashion designer and on below are the photos of his works in New York Fashion week Spring /Summer 2014. His collection is based on the topic 'Elizabethan Clowns' which I found very interesting but also very....creepy.

These looks are definitely related to the women in Elizabethan era as the collections has got the Elizabethans features such as the white skin, the eyebrows' colour are very light, red lips and also the frizzy and big hairstyle as well.

The hairstyles are frizzy and big and I like how they have got different shapes as well. I also like how some bits of the hair are white in colour which gives a more modern and crazy look. The hairstyles also features the caul at the back of the hair which links to the Elizabethans as the caul is one of the important headdresses that they wore at that period of time. On the Caul, there are some pearls decorated on it and it also links to the Elizabethans because pearls were used to symbolise purity and virginity in the Elizabethan era. The looks are so inspiring and I'm thinking of including the caul as part of my designs for my Elizabethans project.
