The Ditchley Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I
c.1592
Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger

I have an interview with my assessment partner, Mihaela and we have talked about each other's hair design idea. She has chosen two images of Lana del Rey as the contemporary inspiration for her design. On the first image, it inspires her to have volume on the top of the head and the second image inspires her to use blue roses on her design. In order to link to the Elizabethans more, she has used red roses on her design as well. The blue rose means mystery, a sense of the impossible and enchantment. The red roses she used on her design are symbolic in Elizabethan portraits a sit symbolize the Tudor dynasty and the unity that it brought to the realm.  In the second image, Lana del Rey is sitting on a throne and there are two tigers beside her on each side and she thinks that it shows a symbol of power and determination. For the bun on her design, she told me that she wanted to do more things which links to the Elizabethans, so she decided to put it at the back of the head. She has chosen 'The Ditchley Portrait' of Queen Elizabeth I for her final design project.
